History

Synergy Racing began life as G&W Motorsports. The legacy of G&W Motorsports actually began when G&W Sales and Service was founded by Gary and Weldon Scrogham in 1971. The original partnership lasted only a few weeks, but the G&W name carried on. Gary and Weldon’s business developed out of a love for a Porsche sports car that Weldon brought back with him from a tour in Germany in the late 1950’s. From his first Porsche in 1962, G&W Sales and Service sold, serviced, restored or raced nearly every Porsche model in history. In 1984, G&W Motorwerkes opened a new, permanent facility that has seen 4 Manhattan Concours winners and numerous racing wins. In 1996, G&W Motorsports, Inc. was founded by Cole Scrogham and partnered with brothers Danny and Steve Marshall. As G&W Motorsports, the team won numerous championships and developed into a competitive program. G&W Motorsports won the inaugural Grand-Am GTU Championship in 2000 and until 2007, had been the only team to enter and compete in every Grand Am Rolex event since its inception. To date, SYNERGY Racing holds eight Grand Am Championships with more than 50 podium finishes.

In 2004 company owners Cole Scrogham, Steve Marshall and Danny Marshall decided that it was time to move the company forward in a big way. After reviewing the direction of their company, the direction of Grand-Am and applying the growing needs of a more sophisticated customer base to the business model, the owners decided to restructure the business and along with the restructure came a bold new look and company name…SYNERGY Racing. SYNERGY Racing builds on the legacy of G&W Motorwerkes while looking to the future of Sports Car Racing. At Synergy Racing, we strive to win races in a professional and ethical manner, while focusing on the needs and expectations of our customers.
